The ARCC Intelligent Drive Pod is available for the iconic British manufactured Brompton folding bike and can be fitted to all current and older Brompton folding bicycles.
The Intelligent Drive Pod has been designed by ARCC to provide unique intelligent bike power. It combines variable power levels with automatic hill/gradient compensation which allows commuting cyclists to choose the amount of effort both they and the motor provides; automatically compensates for hills and gradients; and provides ‘launch control’, for safety when moving away from lights and crossings in heavy traffic.
The pod uses an industry standard 4.0 Ah, 6.0 Ah or 9.0 Ah Bosch battery which is readily available from stores and online and has a range of up to 75km dependant on the battery used. When the battery is removed, the eBike reverts to its standard configuration and can be used as a regular bike.
The Brompton equipped with the pod is ideal for commuting or on road riding, delivering a well-tuned, responsive ride every time.

I completed 800km last week, after a month with the converted Brompton: it is flawless. For long and hilly trips, a spare battery and light third party charger are perfect.
The conversion seems to widen a bit the front fork, but is still fit in the Polaris bike case (together with charger and batteries). There is quite a lot more cables, but they are neatly tied by the arcc team. I have found the Brompton stock stem holder to struggle to stay folded since the conversion, but that is a very minor inconvenience.
Conversion completed within a few days and the components are of a high quality. The conversion is very compatible with the Brompton and works well with all aspects of the bike. The performance is smooth and very efficient and effective. Highly recommended.
At the 2019 London Bike Show my wife and I test rode Brompton Bicycle’s own Brompton Electric and the ARCC Brompton fitted with the e²-pod. We both preferred the ARCC Brompton.
They have a fantastic, up-to-date facility staffed by enthusiastic and knowledgeable people who clearly enjoy their work. I was already convinced about its technical merits but what convinced me to ask ARCC to convert my wife’s Brompton to an e-bike was the professionalism, warmth and enthusiasm of the people I met at ARCC. I delivered my wife’s Brompton to ARCC and picked up the converted bike a few days later. It has worked faultlessly ever since.
It handles slopes exactly as one would want, well. I have had no problems or niggles in the time I have had it: the ARCC conversion was faultless, excellent, and a very good choice for me.
The company were very helpful in arranging for the bike to be couriered down to them, the conversion took less than a week and I was kept informed at each stage.
The quality of the kit is very impressive, in particular the Bluetooth handlebar controller which is a work of art in its machined case and secure magnetic bracket.
The bike performs well at all levels of assistance with minimal drag from the motor and it tackles some very steep hills with aplomb, in fact better than our standard mid range eBikes which is probably down to less weight.
As most of our rides are only up to 10 miles I can’t really comment on the range but I’d expect to achieve the range quoted for the smaller battery we had initially opted for.
If I have a negative it’s that there’s a buzz from the controller at higher speeds which I think is due to harmonics from the motor.
