Mechanical/Product Design Engineer 

ARCC Innovations is a state-of-the-art Engineering R&D and Design company based in Great Abington, Cambridge. We are now looking to strengthen our engineering team and require a Mechanical/Product Design Engineer to work in our facility in Great Abington, Cambridge.

The successful applicant will be involved with all aspects of product design and development from initial concepts through to production. They must have the ability to analyse problems from first principles and be an innovative thinker with a view to implementing cost effective solutions. They must work well as part of a team, but also be capable of working on their own to a specification and to produce the quality of work required to meet outlined objectives set by the company.

Job Responsibilities  

  • Design and development using 3D CAD systems.

  • Working on products/projects as directed, including mechanical and electronic controls using a variety of materials, manufacturing methods and technologies.

  • Preparing concept designs for evaluation

  • Taking conceptual designs through to detailed design and to production support

  • Preparing all related product technical and manufacturing specifications

  • Work in a cross functional team to achieve project objectives.

  • Maintaining product specification, design, and process documentation
     

Experience and skills required

  • Proven 3D solid modelling proficiency with Solidworks and/or Pro-E/Creo

  • Product design for small to medium volume manufacturing

  • Design of electronic products with environmental sealing

  • Design for Injection mouldings, CNC machined parts, castings, and fabrications.

  • Rapid prototyping techniques and the use of SLS and/or, FDM 3D printing processes

  • Good material knowledge and selection

  • Material treatments and coatings

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience
     

Desirable experience and skills

  • Work in a production design office environment (BOMs, ECRs and documentation)

  • Knowledge of CAM

  • Design of electro/mechanical products

  • Design of pressed metal, extruded and rubber parts

  • Design for vibration environment

  • Design of mechanical products

  • Good understanding of electronics

  • Familiar with the requirements of UL and CE approvals

  • Use of analysis tools such as FMEA and FEA

  • BEng or BSc or HND in mechanical or electro/mechanical engineering

  • Knowledge and experience of using and implementing data management systems
     

Additional Info

Salary: Experience Dependant

Hours of Work: 9am – 5pm, Mon - Frid

Remote Working: No

Annual Leave allowance: 25 Days + Bank holidays
